About Achilles Tendonitis
Achilles tendinitis is inflammation of the tissue that connects your calf muscle to your heel. It can be caused by a sudden increase in exercise or changes in footwear. Achilles tendonitis is particularly common in people who regularly wear high-heels that take up a new type of sport or exercise. The long term wearing of high heels causes the calf muscles and achilles tendon to shorten, this means that when they switch to a regular shoe the calf is stretched and more prone to strain.
Achilles tendonitis can also be predisposed by weakness in the muscles of the foot, leg, buttocks and core. Achilles Tendonitis can be very painful and make it hard to even walk, but it usually improves quickly with treatment and exercise.
