About Hip Pain

When people describe hip pain, they can be referring to discomfort anywhere from their flanks to their thighs. When we refer to the hip joint, we are talking about the ball and socket joint that connects your thigh bone to your pelvis. Hip joint pain is most often experienced in the groin, although can also be felt in the thigh and buttock. Pain can be sharp and pinching if there is a joint strain or damage to the cartilage, and is generally felt as a dull achy pain and stiffness with wear and tear. In cases of wear and tear, sufferers might find it hard to allow the leg to lie straight in bed, they might also find it hard to rotate the hip, making activities like putting on shoes and socks quite tricky.

Hip joint strains and mild to moderate wear and tear can be treated by improving the mobility of the hip and surrounding areas. Flexibility and strengthening exercises are also important to maintain good joint health.
